Qualifications

Michael Ghalchi, MD, FACC, our medical director, has been recognized for his open-minded, thorough, and innovative approach to patient care. Board-Certified in cardiovascular disease and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he demonstrates a genuine commitment to both the scientific and humanistic aspects of cardiovascular health. Dr. Ghalchi graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine, where he remains on the faculty.

Dr. Ghalchi founded Manhattan Cardiovascular Associates, in midtown Manhattan, which has been recognized as one of the top cardiology practices in New York City. He and his team are committed to applying the latest evidence-based treatments for cardiovascular disease as well as empowering patients to achieve their best health through a collaborative, personalized focus on forecasting, education, and prevention.

With a commitment to lifelong learning, Dr. Ghalchi is devoted to education and teaches courses at the NYU School of Medicine where he also supervises residents, cardiology fellows. Through his involvement with the New York City Science and Engineering Fair, he also serves as a judge and mentor to local high school students.

Dr. Ghalchi serves on the medical advisory committee of the American Heart Association and is an advisory board member for Off the Scale, a community-based platform designed to reduce the incidence of preventable disease through nutrition, behavioral, and fitness education and programming. He also is the medical advisor to Vocalto, a company devoted to using machine learning to reducing physician burnout and improving patient outcomes.

As an active clinical researcher, he is currently developing a data-driven diagnostic and cardiac treatment algorithm to prevent strokes in at-risk patients as well as spearheading a project to better quantify cardiovascular risk using ultrasound protocols.

Dr. Ghalchi is proud to have been appointed an Honorary Police Surgeon for the New York City Police Department, where he devotes his time and expertise to improve the cardiovascular health of NYPD officers and leadership.
